4-10 May 2025

Welcome to the Curriculum Innovation course, designed to inspire and equip educators with the tools and knowledge needed to revolutionize their educational environments. This course draws on the pioneering curriculum reforms of Finland and Estonia, two countries that have set global benchmarks in education through their innovative approaches.

Finland’s curriculum focuses on school culture and an integrative approach, addressing the effects of societal changes on children’s learning, life skills, and wellbeing. The Finnish National Board of Education emphasizes the active involvement of pupils, meaningful learning experiences, and enriching interactions between students and teachers. By fostering both growth communities and dynamic learning environments, Finnish schools aim to balance academic achievement with student welfare through a future-oriented and competence-based framework.

Similarly, Estonia’s educational reforms have garnered international attention for their remarkable outcomes. Despite modest spending, Estonia achieved top rankings in PISA 2018, highlighting the success of their equity-focused education system. With an emphasis on high-quality education for all, regardless of socio-economic background, Estonian schools create resilient students who excel academically and experience high levels of wellbeing.

This course targets school management, teachers, special education professionals, and all other educational staff working in school education, adult education, and vocational education and training (VET). Participants will explore:

  • The core curriculum reforms in Finland and Estonia, including the reasons behind these changes, their key features, and the processes involved.
  • Strategies for developing equitable education systems that prepare students for the future.
  • Innovative learning environments that adapt to societal changes and foster future-ready skills.
  • The role of educational leadership and the cultivation of a culture of trust within schools.
  • Approaches to ensuring sustainable wellbeing in educational settings.

Throughout the course, participants will engage in individual and group projects to develop practical outputs that can be implemented in their own schools. Our trainers will provide ongoing support and coaching, extending beyond the course duration to ensure the successful application of learned concepts.

Join us in this transformative journey to reshape education and empower every student to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
