Welcome to Exploring Tomorrow: Mega-trends and Global Problem-solving, a course designed to equip educators with the skills and insights needed to navigate the challenges of tomorrow and foster global problem-solving in the classroom. In an era marked by uncertainty and rapid change, it is imperative for educators to understand future trends, cultivate creative problem-solving skills, and promote peace-building efforts.

This course takes participants on a journey from envisioning the future to devising solutions for existing problems. We begin by exploring the basics of future research and identifying global challenges through the lens of mega-trends. Participants will delve into the realm of future skills development and nurture their own creativity, essential for addressing future uncertainties.

Throughout the course, special emphasis is placed on conversational and negotiation skills, crucial for fostering peace and common understanding in a world shadowed by conflict. Participants will learn innovative methods such as the Erätauko method and the Ahtissari Day’s method, which offer effective approaches to resolving conflicts through dialogue.

A highlight of the course is the “Hacking for School” session, where participants collaborate closely with experts to broaden their understanding of problems and devise actionable solutions. Participants will present their own puzzles for problem-solving, fostering a hands-on and collaborative learning environment.

Targeted at school management, teachers, special education professionals, and all stakeholders in education, this course covers a wide range of topics essential for introducing future-oriented education in schools. Key areas of focus include:

  • Future sciences and methods for exploring future phenomena.
  • Utilizing mega-trends to outline global problems.
  • Developing future skills and fostering creativity.
  • Enhancing conversational and negotiation skills for peace-building.
  • Hands-on problem-solving activities and collaborative learning.
  • Designing innovative didactical approaches for teaching problem-solving.
  • Adapting learning processes to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Strengthening belief in a positive and achievable future.

Participants will engage in practical activities, working individually or in groups to develop concrete outputs for use in their own schools. Trainers will provide ongoing support and coaching throughout the course and beyond, ensuring participants can effectively implement what they’ve learned.

Join us in this transformative journey to explore tomorrow’s challenges, develop innovative solutions, and inspire a generation of global problem-solvers. Together, let’s build a brighter future through education.
