Day 1 – Futures Thinking and the Consequences of Inaction

Theme: Exploring the future of education and society if bullying is not addressed.

• Introduction to Futures Studies: Understanding foresight, megatrends, and alternative futures.
• Workshop: Futures Wheel – Imagining the long-term effects of bullying on individuals and society.
• Group Work: Three Futures – Exploring possible, probable, and preferred futures for schools.
• Reflection and Sharing: What kind of future do we want to build together?

Day 2 – Evidence-Based Methods: KiVa and VERSO

Theme: Practical Finnish approaches to preventing and resolving bullying.

• Introduction to the KiVa School Programme: Background, evidence, and practical tools.
• Presentation of the VERSO Programme: Peer mediation and restorative practices.
• School Visit: Observe a local school implementing both methods.
• Reflection: Adapting these ideas to the local context.

Day 3 – Children’s and Youth Wellbeing: Research and Hope for the Future

Theme: Understanding wellbeing today and nurturing hope for tomorrow.

• Overview: Recent Finnish research on children’s and youth wellbeing.
• The Role of Hope, Meaning, and Agency in Education
• Workshop: Hope Mapping – Practical ways to support students’ sense of possibility.
• Discussion: How schools and communities can create structures that strengthen wellbeing.

Day 4 – Nature, Wellbeing, and the Finnish Winter

Theme: Experiencing how nature supports wellbeing and learning.

• Introduction: The connection between nature and mental health.
• Guided Nature Experience: Snowshoe walk, winter forest exploration, or campfire conversation.
• Reflection in Nature: Noticing calm, creativity, and connection.
• Sharing Discussion: Bringing nature-based wellbeing activities into everyday school life.

Day 5 – Reflection, Collaboration, and “Hands and Hearts”

Theme: Bringing the week together through creativity, collaboration, and shared hope.

• Morning Reflection: What have we learned and what has moved us?
• Workshop: Design Thinking for Change – Developing new ideas for wellbeing and bullying prevention.
• Creative Session: Hands and Hearts – Participants create a small piece for a shared artwork symbolising connection, hope, and community.
• Group Reflection: Certificates and closing circle.

If you have Erasmus+ KA1 funding, it should cover the fees. For those who come from outside the EU countries, there are other professional development grants for teachers. We have tried to keep the costs so low that self-funded participation is also a real option.

The price excludes Finnish VAT 25,5%. For VAT exemption, you need to register as a representative/employee of a company, school or other organization, and during the registration, provide a VAT-number or Erasmus-related OID (Organization ID) number. If you don’t have those, please send a tax certificate, trade register extract, or similar from your country to courses@euneos.eu.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON HELSINKI

Is Helsinki the coolest city in the world?

Probably yes! In the capital of Finland, you can find the influence of both our neighbors, Sweden and Russia, but still the city is unique. It’s a modern metropole with over 650, 000 inhabitants (1,5 million in the larger metropolitan area) and yet you are never more than a 10-minute walk from nature. On the same day, you can pick berries in a forest and go to the Opera. Helsinki is a lively big city that never sleeps, but so safe that you can see 7-year-old first graders the take the tram to school on their own. 

Feeling the fresh breeze of the Baltic Sea while wandering around the picturesque streets of this easy-going city, it is not so difficult to imagine why Finns are the happiest nation in the world. After the walk, warm yourself up with a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun. These coffee breaks with friends and colleagues are almost sacred moments to Finns.
