LIFE2021Remote is a virtual version of the fifth LIFE Lapland International Forum for Education™. This virtual event still has all the main features of the onsite conference in the Arctic: shadowing Finnish teachers during LIVE virtual school visits, listening to the top Finnish education experts, and of course, meeting the Santa.
This unique one-day training program offers an exclusive opportunity to visit Finnish primary, secondary, and high schools right by the Arctic Circle, in the city of Rovaniemi, also known as the official hometown of Santa Claus. During the visits, you can not only observe but also interact with the Finnish teachers and ask questions about what you have just seen, or anything that you would like to know about Finnish education or everyday life in Finnish schools.
After the school visits, you can join Educa, the biggest educational event in Finland (19.000 participants in January 2020). Top Finnish education experts are talking about COVID-19, distance education, international co-operation, and lifelong learning, among many other themes.
To get the most out of the event, you will get free access to our online courses about Finnish education, and get familiar with the Finnish education system and principles prior to the visit and keynotes.
For early bird buyers, we will also offer during the holidays a Virtual flight to Rovaniemi and meeting with Santa Claus. The flight is offered by Finnair, the official airline of Santa Claus. IMPORTANT! THIS OPTION IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR REGISTRATIONS MADE BY DECEMBER 22ND!
The key purpose of LIFE2021Remote is to get an idea of how learning takes place in Finnish schools by shadowing Finnish teachers. You can choose the age range to ensure it is tailored to your needs*. Here are the age ranges for each visit:

SUVI KRISTA WESTLING (Host for the school visits)
Suvi K. Westling is an educational psychologist and expert in the field with both grass root teaching experience from school and teacher education as well as research from these environments. She has a broad and holistic view of education and a deep understanding of the human mind and learning. She has graduated from and later taught new students in an innovative program of educational psychology at the University of Helsinki. Her teaching has included lecturing, supervising pre-service-teachers’ practice, and facilitating group processes and process-oriented group studies. In her research, she studies the quality of regulation of students’ learning and activity, at school, and at teacher education. She has worked as an expert in educational program design at an academic level as well as in the world of international organizations.

Unique educational conference setup – Visit Finnish schools and job shadow teachers by the Arctic Circle.
Ms. Rauhala (B.A.) is an educational sciences student at the University of Turku with studies also in the fields of psychology, business and HR, and sociology. As an education major, she is passionate about lifelong learning and the Finnish education system. She believes in change through education. In addition, Ms. Rauhala loves to learn new languages. She completed an Erasmus + university exchange in Spain as a part of her studies and wants to work toward everyone getting international learning opportunities. Ms. Rauhala is working for VisitEDUfinn part-time while finishing her studies.
